CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Tavros Nitram
Age: 13
Canon: Homestuck
Canon point: After taking Vriska to her quest bed
Personality:
Trolls are a brutal species. They are brought up in a society where killing and death are the norm. A world where it's a good thing to be seen as cruel and brutal and merciless, and a world where those who cannot contribute to the species' goal of dominating and controlling their entire universe are killed outright. And so, it is a world where only the strong can survive. There are even trials a young child troll has to go through in order to earn the right to live!
There is also a caste system in place on Alternia, the trolls' home. It goes by blood color: the lowest in that system are warm-colored bloods and the cool-colored bloods are the highest. Lowbloods have a high turnover rate-- they die a lot more than the highbloods, simply because they are seen as garbage and often outright killed if they offend a higher blood.
So all of that said... Tavros is not a very good troll. He is very far removed from the ideal in his society: a person with confidence and a flair for violence. There's no doubt that Tavros would make a better human than a troll.
As a lowblood he has considerable psychic ability and thus the power to communicate effectively with animals. He makes a point of never hurting or putting the animals he communicates with in danger, even going so far as to refuse to ride the horse-like creatures. He considers animals to be his friends just as much as any troll is. He is kind and soft despite the cutthroat world he was raised in.
Tavros is a brown-blooded troll and the effect that has had on him is large: he considers himself lesser than most people and never superior. He's humble, and in his mind it is rightfully so-- he truly isn't anything special, even if sometimes he does take pride in his actions. One of the things he takes pride in is the ability to be kind to people. Even if they are remarkably cruel to him, he likes to be nice to everyone. Because after all, Tavros deserves whatever cruelty comes his way on account of his blood color.
However despite him thinking he deserves most of the bad stuff that happens to him, there is a point where he won't take shit anymore. Tavros does have the capacity to stand up for himself, though it's generally only in a small way. For example, he tells Vriska that he won't apologize for his being disabled since it's her fault he's crippled in the first place. (He also can be made angry by similar behaviour.) But he does go on to travel with her and forgive her for it all, showing that he can't hold a grudge and additionally that he can't put a stopper on what is a very toxic relationship.
His inability to stand up for himself is directly linked with his desire to please people, which is in turn related to his insecurities and fears. Fear is a huge motive in Tavros' interactions with people. He's scared to displease people and scared that they'll hurt or kill him. He's scared to be alone, and while being himself he also tries his best to be nice for this reason.
Tavros is enthusiastic about making friends and staying friends. He's met a lot of people with similar interests to him-- fantasy, tabletop games and extreme roleplaying-- and cherishes those friendships. He really cares about people.
Additionally it's worth noting that he's platonic as can be and is deeply uncomfortable with romance and sexuality, and is fairly (bordering on intentionally) oblivious to others' advances. He really wants nothing to do with that and it'd take a lot for him to warm up to the idea.
Wearing his emotions on his sleeve, Tavros makes no fronts about how he actually feels, even if sometimes he'll pretend one thing in order to beef up his confidence.
Weapon:
Name: Esteem
Form: A bright red cape that is very easy to tear. It has to be worn for the upgrades to take effect.
Upgrades:
- Paralysis: specifically targets the legs and feet of a person.
- Earth Element
- Dual Wielding
- Flight
- Supporting Role: If dual wielding, all of the other weapon's stats enjoy a large boost. Additionally, when this ability is equipped, all of this weapon's upgrade rings apply instead to the other weapon. This means, for example, an elemental upgrade will connect with the other weapon. It allows it to be relevant without actually attacking with the weapon containing Supporting Role.
Lost memories:
- 1 - That he killed his lusus by accident.
- 2 - Gamzee's implied to be red feelings.
- 3 - That Vriska wanted him to kill her.
- 4 - What happened to Vriska's arm.
- 5 - How to play Fiduspawn.
- 6 - The name he gave his self-esteem, Rufio.
- 7 - What grist is.
- 8 - How he lost use of his legs.
- 9 - His blood color.
- 10 - That you're not supposed to eat sopor.
